Mamata Medical College, under supervision of Department of Pharmacology have established conventional central animal house facility, registered as 1114/ac/07/CPCSEA and permitted for experiments on Animals as per letter no. 25/4/2007-AWD, government of India Ministry of Environment and Forest.
The animal house possesses complete facilities for rats, mice and rabbits. Each species of animals is housed in barrier maintained individual rooms to avoid disease transmission and inter-species conflicts. All efforts are made to maintain the animals under controlled environmental conditions [Temperature (22-26°C), Relative Humidity (60 ± 10 %), 12 hr alternate light and dark cycle] with 100 % fresh air exchange in animal rooms and uninterrupted power and water supply.
A trained qualified veterinarian and technical personnel are always at hand to carry out research and keep it in accordance with the standards established by the Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA).Institute also have Animal Ethics Committee for regular monitoring the activities of Central Animal House like
- Promoting basic and educational animal research.
- Periodical Institutional Animal Ethic committee meeting
- Invivo studies for PhD level and collaborative projects.
- Mentoring approved scientific studies and animal welfare.
- Training faculty and students for applied animal studies.
