Mamata General Hospital has a separate Centralized System called Medical Records Department, which takes up the responsibility for the management, quality and control of all health care records ensuring confidentiality and prompt retrieval of information for patient care also for research/clinical audit and for statistics.
This Medical Records Department stores the patient records a minimum of 15 years from the date of issue by using the Unit Numbering System a single number is assigned to a new patient which is called Hospital Number. This number is common to all the department of the Hospital irrespective of whether the patient is out-patient or in-patient. Records are held in hard copy and are useful to educate our staff and students and also to teach them more effectively and may be used for our quality controls and audits to help us to improve our services.
